Which papers are worth solving
- The August 2024 re-exam: held over several days in two shifts a day for the 60,244 post recruitment, after the February 2024 paper was cancelled. With around ten shifts, it gives you many full sets in the current pattern.
- The June exam for 32,679 posts: the most recent recruitment, held over three days, and the best guide to current difficulty.
- Older constable papers: useful for Hindi grammar and static GK, but check that the section split matches before you time yourself on them.
Skip the cancelled February 2024 paper as a timing benchmark. Its questions are still fine for topic practice.
What a UP police previous year paper usually contains
General Knowledge questions lean toward Indian history, polity and geography, with a steady set on Uttar Pradesh: districts, rivers, festivals, folk arts, schemes and administration. Recent papers have also asked on cyber crime, police related laws and current events from the year before the exam.
General Hindi is mostly grammar: synonyms and opposites, one word substitution, idioms, sandhi and samas, plus questions on writers and their works. Numerical ability stays at class 8 to 10 level, with percentages, profit and loss, average, ratio and interest appearing in almost every shift. Reasoning includes coding, series, analogies, blood relations, direction and situation based questions about police duty.
Using a UP police constable previous year paper for practice
- Print an OMR style answer sheet and fill circles, since bubbling takes real time.
- Sit for exactly 120 minutes with a watch on the table and no phone.
- Mark using the official key for that shift, subtract 0.5 for each wrong answer, and note your net score.
- Write down each mistake under its section. After five papers you will see whether your losses come from GK facts, Hindi rules or careless maths.
- Solve one full paper every third day in the last six weeks and a sectional set on the other days.
Try these four practice items
Our team drafted these in the manner of recent constable shifts. They are originals, not reproduced from any exam.
- A shirt marked at 800 rupees is sold at 15% off. How many rupees does the buyer pay? (A) 660 (B) 680 (C) 700 (D) 720
- If BOOK is written as CPPL, how is DESK written? (A) EFTL (B) EFTM (C) EFSL (D) FETL
- Choose the opposite of उदार: (A) कृपण (B) दयालु (C) सरल (D) विनम्र
- You are the first constable to reach a highway crash where a rider lies bleeding and onlookers are filming. What comes first? (A) Note the vehicle number (B) Arrange medical help for the injured (C) Disperse the crowd with force (D) Wait for senior officers
Answers: 1 (B), 2 (A): B becomes C and O becomes P, so add one to each, 3 (A), 4 (B).
Getting papers and answer keys officially
After each written exam, UPPRPB uploads provisional keys, then allows a brief objection period, followed by final keys. Use these keys to mark any paper you practise, and look in the same notices section for question booklets if the board has released them. The link is in the quick facts box above.
Plenty of readers ask for a paper from a previous year of the UP police constable test in Hindi. The same need lies behind requests for any question paper of a previous year from the UP police or UP constable exams. Since most candidates take this exam in Hindi medium, practice sets in Hindi are common, and the General Hindi section is in Hindi in every version.
From practice to selection
Once your net mock score is steady, set it against the trends in our guide to UP police cut off marks, and keep up your running so the race does not undo your written result. Aiming at the sub inspector post too? the UP SI previous papers guide covers that test, while more forces appear under police and defence exams.
Frequently asked questions
How many upp previous year question paper sets should I solve?
Ten to twelve full sets is a solid target: all shifts of the last two recruitments plus a few older ones for Hindi and GK. Review each one carefully.
Does the board release the question paper?
Answer keys come out after each shift, with an objection window. Check its notices section for any question booklets released with them.
Are questions repeated in the UP constable exam?
Identical questions rarely return, though Hindi grammar items, UP GK facts and arithmetic types come back often across shifts and years.
Is the paper in Hindi or English?
Most candidates take it in Hindi, and the General Hindi section is in Hindi for everyone. Language options for your exam are printed in the booklet instructions and on the admit card.
Should I solve the cancelled February 2024 paper?
Yes, for topic practice, since its questions follow the same syllabus. Just do not treat its difficulty as a guide to the current paper.
