The delhi police syllabus for Constable (Executive) covers one computer based test of 100 objective questions: 50 on general knowledge and current affairs, 25 on reasoning, 15 on numerical ability and 10 on computer fundamentals. The Staff Selection Commission runs the written test for Delhi Police, and those who clear it move on to the Physical Endurance and Measurement Test (PE&MT).

Half the marks sit in general knowledge, so this page breaks the paper down topic by topic, shows where the marks are, and sets out a study plan in proportion to each section's marks. Not sure yet that you qualify to apply? Read the Delhi Police Constable eligibility rules.

How the selection works

The SSC Delhi Police Constable recruitment has a short chain of stages. Only the written test is scored for merit; the physical stage is pass or fail.

  1. Computer based test (CBT): 100 questions in 90 minutes. Your normalised score decides the merit list and the shortlist for the next stage.
  2. PE&MT: a 1600 metre race, long jump and high jump, plus height and chest measurement. It is qualifying only.
  3. Medical examination and document verification: eyesight, general fitness and your certificates, including the driving licence that male candidates must hold.

Because the CBT alone ranks you, every mark you add there counts directly toward selection.

Delhi police constable exam pattern

Constable (Executive) CBT pattern as per the latest SSC notice
SectionQuestionsMarks
General Knowledge and Current Affairs5050
Reasoning2525
Numerical Ability1515
Computer Fundamentals, MS Excel, MS Word, communication, internet, web browsers1010
Total100100

Every correct response earns a single mark, while each incorrect one pulls a quarter mark off your score. There is no sectional time limit, so you can move between sections freely within the 90 minutes. When the test runs over several shifts, SSC normalises the raw marks before it prepares the merit list.

SSC has kept this structure in recent Constable (Executive) notices, but open the current notice and go through its exam scheme before you fix your plan, since the Commission can revise it.

Where the marks really are

The split is unusual compared with most SSC papers. General knowledge alone is worth as much as the other three sections put together, while maths is only 15 marks. That shapes your preparation in three ways.

  • Current affairs and static GK decide rank. Two candidates with similar reasoning scores are usually separated by their GK.
  • Reasoning is the safest scoring area. The questions are mostly short and pattern based, so 20 or more out of 25 is a realistic target with practice.
  • Computer questions are quick marks. Ten questions on Word, Excel, e-mail and browsers can be prepared in a couple of weeks.

Numerical ability stays at a school level, so you do not need advanced shortcuts; accuracy matters more than speed in these 15 questions.

A 12 week plan for the CBT

This plan assumes you can give about three hours a day.

  • Weeks 1 to 4: static GK from NCERT books of classes 6 to 10 (history, geography, polity, science), one reasoning topic a day, and arithmetic basics such as percentage and ratio.
  • Weeks 5 to 8: start a daily current affairs habit (30 minutes, short notes), finish the computer section, and move to mensuration and time and work.
  • Weeks 9 to 12: one full 100 question mock every two days, review every wrong answer, and revise GK notes on the off days.
Sahil drives a delivery van in the morning and studies after 6 pm. He kept his first mocks at around 55 marks because GK was weak. He began writing 10 current affairs facts every night and testing himself on Sundays; within five weeks his GK score in mocks went from 22 to 31 out of 50.

Keep the physical stage in mind too: start running three or four days a week from the first month, since the 1600 metre race comes soon after the result.

Study material that suits this paper

  • NCERT school books (classes 6 to 10) covering history, geography, polity and general science.
  • A standard general knowledge reference book plus a month by month digest of news events.
  • Any school level arithmetic book for percentage, ratio, interest and mensuration.
  • A basic computer fundamentals guide covering MS Office, e-mail and the internet.
  • The papers from earlier Constable exams, which show the level of questions better than any guide.

After the CBT: the physical and medical stage

The syllabus ends with the written test, but your selection does not. Men must finish 1600 metres within 6 minutes (up to age 30), and women within 8 minutes, with long and high jump standards that ease with age. Minimum height is 170 cm for men and 157 cm for women, with relaxations for some groups. Full tables are on the eligibility and physical standards page, and past qualifying scores are on the Delhi Police cut off page.

Other police exams with a similar level include the SSC GD syllabus and the Delhi Police Head Constable syllabus; the defence and police exams hub lists more.

Frequently asked questions

Delhi police ka syllabus kya hai?

The Constable (Executive) written test has four parts: general knowledge and current affairs (50 marks), reasoning (25), numerical ability (15) and computer fundamentals (10). It is a single 90 minute computer based test of 100 questions.

Will a wrong tick reduce my Constable CBT score?

Yes, 0.25 goes for each incorrect choice. A question you skip neither gains nor loses, so attempt a doubtful one once two of the four options look clearly wrong to you.

Which section of the delhi police constable exam syllabus should I start with?

Begin with general knowledge, because it carries half the marks and takes the longest to build. Run reasoning practice alongside it, and leave the computer section for a focused two week block later.

Is the exam conducted in Hindi?

Yes. The latest notice offers the question paper in English and Hindi. You can read each question in either language during the test.

How hard is the maths in this exam?

Numerical ability covers school level arithmetic such as percentage, ratio, interest, profit and loss and mensuration. With only 15 questions, careful working is more useful than advanced tricks.

Is the physical test part of the merit?

No. The PE&MT is qualifying in nature. Merit is drawn from the normalised CBT score, subject to clearing the physical, medical and document stages.
