The CET syllabus for the Rajasthan Common Eligibility Test at senior secondary (12th) level covers Rajasthan history, art, culture, geography, polity and economy, Indian geography and polity, everyday science, reasoning and maths, current affairs, public health, computers, and general Hindi and English. In the latest notification the paper has 120 objective questions for 240 marks, to be solved in 150 minutes, and every wrong answer pulls your score down by 0.67 marks.

Your CET score does not give you a job by itself. It makes you eligible for the main exams of the 12th-level posts the board recruits for, such as junior assistant, with the full list given in each notification. This page sets out the exam pattern, the full topic list and a plan to finish it.

How Rajasthan CET works

The Common Eligibility Test filters candidates for many state posts at once. It is held at two levels: senior secondary (12th) and graduation. Clear the minimum score in the right level and you can apply for the main recruitment exams the board announces for that level during the validity period.

  • Step 1: sit the CET at 12th level and get your score.
  • Step 2: if your score meets the qualifying mark, apply for posts at that level.
  • Step 3: clear the main exam, and any physical or skill test the post needs.

Graduates preparing for the higher level should use the Rajasthan CET graduation level syllabus instead.

Total marks240 (2 marks per question)
Duration2 hours 30 minutes
Wrong answerMinus 0.67 (one-third of 2 marks)
Skipping a questionDarken option E
ModePen and paper with OMR sheet

Each question has a fifth bubble, option E, meant for questions you choose not to answer. Every question must carry one darkened bubble. Under the board's OMR rules, leaving over 10% of questions completely blank, without even E darkened, can get you disqualified. Read the full OMR rules on your admit card before the exam.

The board has not fixed an official subject-wise split of questions in the material we checked. Splits you see elsewhere are estimates from past papers. Recheck the pattern whenever the board issues a new CET advertisement.

What changed from earlier cycles

Earlier editions of the 12th level CET had 150 questions for 300 marks in 3 hours. The latest notification trims this to 120 questions and 240 marks in two and a half hours, so you now have less time to cover the same breadth of topics. The syllabus also now names a public health unit and lists the state's law on preventing unfair means in recruitment exams under current affairs. Score validity was raised to three years by a Personnel Department order, replacing the shorter validity of the first cycles.

Ten weeks to cover the 12th level CET

  1. Weeks 1 to 3: Rajasthan history, art and culture together, since many questions mix a ruler with a fort or a painting school.
  2. Weeks 4 to 5: geography of India and Rajasthan with a blank map, then polity.
  3. Weeks 6 to 7: reasoning and maths daily for an hour; these are the topics where steady practice lifts marks fastest.
  4. Week 8: everyday science from class 9 and 10 NCERT books, plus computer basics.
  5. Weeks 9 to 10: Hindi and English grammar, current affairs of the last year, and full timed mock papers with an OMR sheet.
Mahesh from Sikar works on his family farm until noon. He used afternoons for Rajasthan GK and evenings for reasoning. In mocks he noticed he was guessing too often and losing 0.67 marks each time, so he started marking option E unless he could rule out at least two choices. His net score rose by about 12 marks.

The Rajasthan LDC syllabus builds directly on 12th-level CET topics, while the Rajasthan patwari syllabus is the main exam route for graduates. More state exams sit on the state exams hub.
