SSC MTS Cut Off 2024: State Wise Final Marks and How They Work

SSC and centralSession II meritTwo age groupsUpdated 26 Oct 2026

The SSC MTS cut off 2024 is the Session II score of the last candidate selected in each state, category and age group, which the Commission printed in the annexures of its MTS and Havaldar Examination 2024 result notice. In most large states the general category line for MTS (18 to 25) sat between about 120 and 138 marks out of 150.

This page gives those official figures for major states, explains why the cut off is out of 150 and not 270, separates the qualifying percentage from the real selection line, and shows you where to read the full annexure yourself.

What the MTS cut off actually measures

MTS vacancies are allotted state by state, so there is no single all India line. The Commission ranks candidates within each state or union territory, by category and by age group, and the cut off is simply the mark at which the final selected candidate in that row stopped.

Only Session II marks count for that rank. Session I (maths and reasoning) is a pass or fail hurdle, and if you fall short there, your Session II sheet is not even evaluated. Once you are through, your General Awareness and English score out of 150 decides where you stand.

Havaldar posts in CBIC and CBN follow a separate list by zone (CCA), and those candidates must also pass the PET and PST.

West Bengal131.72129.69124.19128.94120.85

Two patterns stand out. Bihar, with only a few dozen posts, had the highest lines, while Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, with hundreds of posts each, closed lower. Fewer seats against a large applicant pool pushes the cut off up. The 18 to 27 group, ESM and PwBD lines are in Annexure I of the official result notice.

Havaldar cut off 2024 by zone

Category lines for OBC, EWS, SC and ST in each zone are in Annexure II. Zones with a handful of seats, such as Pune and Visakhapatnam, closed above 136.

Qualifying floor versus selection line

The notice fixes a floor in each session, a percentage that drops from UR to OBC and EWS to the remaining groups. In Session II that floor works out to 45, 37.5 and 30 marks out of 150. Reaching the floor only keeps your sheet in the merit list. In the 2024 result, no major state closed anywhere near it.

People often search for the ssc mts paper 1 cut off or ssc mts cut off tier 1. The exam no longer has tiers or papers; it has two sessions of one CBT. The nearest thing to a paper 1 cut off is the Session I qualifying percentage, which is the same for everyone in a category.

Searches for the ssc mts cut off out of 270 are common because the whole CBT carries 270 marks. Selection uses only the 150 marks of Session II, so compare your Session II score with the tables above.

Reading the previous year cut off for your own plan

A ssc mts previous year cut off is most useful as a target band. If your state closed at 131 for UR, aim for 135 or more in mocks, because the next cycle can move a few marks either way.

Pooja is OBC from Uttar Pradesh and is under 25. The mts last year cut off for her row was 128.16. In her recent Session II mocks she scores about 115, losing most marks to wrong guesses in GK. She stops attempting GK questions she cannot narrow to two options, and spends the saved hours on English, where her accuracy is higher.

Also check which age group fits you. If you are eligible for both, the 2024 result considered you first in the 18 to 25 group.

What moves the cut off next time

  • Vacancies in your state: the single biggest factor, and they vary hugely between cycles.
  • Number of candidates: states with many applicants and few seats see the highest lines.
  • Difficulty and normalisation: Session II runs in many shifts, and scores are normalised before ranking.
  • Negative marking: 1 mark lost per wrong answer in Session II keeps careless attempts in check.
  • Tie breaking: equal scores are split first by General Awareness marks, then Session I total, then age.

Practising real shifts on the SSC MTS previous papers page is the best way to see how far your Session II score is from these lines.

Use the SSC MTS syllabus page to plan around Session II subjects, and compare this exam with other matric level options on the SSC GD cut off page.

Frequently asked questions

What was the SSC MTS cut off 2024 for UR in Uttar Pradesh?

For the MTS 18 to 25 age group, the last selected UR candidate in Uttar Pradesh had about 131.03 Session II marks out of 150. OBC closed at about 128.16 and SC at about 121.56.

Is the MTS cut off out of 270 or 150?

Out of 150. The CBT has 270 marks in total, but Session I is only qualifying and selection depends on the Session II score.

Are MTS and Havaldar cut offs the same?

No. MTS lines are set by state, while Havaldar lines are set by CBIC or CBN zone. Havaldar candidates must also clear the PET and PST before the final list.

Why is the Bihar MTS cut off so high?

Bihar had very few MTS posts in the 2024 cycle while many candidates applied from the state. When seats are scarce, the last selected score rises.

Will the next MTS cut off be lower?

Nobody can say in advance. It depends mainly on how many posts each state gets and on the difficulty of the shifts, so treat past lines as a band and keep a margin.

Where can I see my own MTS marks?

The Commission publishes marks through candidate login on its website for a few weeks once results are declared. Download and keep the scorecard when it opens.
