RPF SI Cut Off: Previous Year Marks for Men and Women

RailwayGraduate levelScaled to 100Updated 26 Oct 2026

The RPF SI cut off for the last Sub Inspector drive (CEN RPF 01/2024) closed at 75.96 for unreserved men at the PET shortlist stage and at 78.78 in the final panel, both on a normalised 100 point scale. With only about 450 posts for the whole country, the lines run high for every category.

Below are the official shortlist figures, the corrected list for women that followed a few days later, the final closing marks, and what each number means for your own target.

How the Sub Inspector lines are drawn

Every SI aspirant writes one computer based test of 120 questions. Since that test is spread over several days and sittings, the Railway Recruitment Boards first adjust each raw score for its sitting and then express it on a 100 point scale. Merit lists, and therefore the cut offs, are built on this scaled figure.

Men and women get separate lists, each divided by reservation group, while ex-servicemen are ranked on their own. From every list a fixed multiple of the seats moves on to the physical round. The last person called sets the shortlist line, and after the physical tests the last person placed in the panel sets the final line.

Three days later, on 6 March 2025, the boards issued a corrigendum for women. It revised every female line, added more women to the PET list by roll number, and moved some earlier names to stand by. Use these revised values, not the first ones:

Some summaries online still print the first female list. If you are comparing your own scorecard, always use the corrigendum figures from an RRB website.

RPF SI cut off in the final panel

EWS76.3973.42
OBC76.2773.80
SC72.4268.09
ST69.3666.68

The panel listed 450 names, 384 men and 66 women, and ex-servicemen closed far lower at about 61.5. Two things stand out. First, every final line is roughly two to four and a half marks above the matching shortlist line, because candidates who failed or skipped the physical round were simply dropped. Second, the EWS line for men ended slightly above OBC, which shows that the order between reserved groups is not fixed.

The minimum score versus the score that selects

The notice states a floor for being considered at all: a 35 percent bar on the general and EWS side, a 30 percent bar on the SC and ST side. On a 100 point scale that is only 35 or 30, while the final lines sat between roughly 66 and 79. In practice, clearing the floor tells you nothing about your chances.

The physical efficiency test (running and jumps) and the measurement test are qualifying. They neither add nor subtract marks, so your scaled CBT score carries straight through to the final merit list once you pass them and your documents are in order.

Imran, a graduate from Lucknow in the UR category, scored 77.2 on the scale. He comfortably beat the shortlist line of 75.96 and passed his run, but the final line rose to 78.78 and he missed the panel. His takeaway for the next notice: aim at 80 plus on the scaled CBT, not just to clear the shortlist.

What could change the next SI cut off

  • Vacancies: the last drive filled about 450 posts. Even a modest rise or fall moves the line noticeably at this small scale.
  • Competition: constable aspirants who also hold a degree often sit the SI test, so the applicant pool is large relative to seats.
  • Women's quota: a separate female list, with fewer applicants, closes lower. Revisions like the March 2025 corrigendum can shift it after release.
  • Difficulty and normalisation: tougher questions pull raw totals down, though scaling narrows differences between sittings.
  • Drop outs at the PET: the more candidates who fail the physical round, the closer the final line stays to the shortlist line.

No official expected cut off exists, so any predicted number is only someone's estimate until the board's own notice appears.

Finding the cut off notices officially

The SI shortlist, any corrigendum and the final panel are posted on every Railway Recruitment Board website and on the force's own portal, rpf.indianrailways.gov.in. Go to the RPF section, pick CEN RPF 01/2024 or the newer CEN, and open the PDF titled with normalised cut off marks. Your personal scaled mark appears on the scorecard, which opens with registration details for a limited window only. Other railway recruitments and their lists are grouped on the railway exams hub.

Planning your score from these lines

The paper is 50 marks of general awareness and 35 marks each of arithmetic and reasoning, within 90 minutes, and a mistake pulls your total down by one third. The RPF SI syllabus page lists every topic. For a UR man, a final line near 79 leaves very little room for careless errors.

  • Build GK first. With 50 marks at stake, a strong current affairs routine decides who crosses 78.
  • Treat reasoning as a scoring section; graduate level puzzles here are short and can be finished quickly with practice.
  • Keep a running physical routine from early on, because missing the PET wastes a good CBT score.

Candidates who can also apply as constable should compare these lines with the constable figures; that drive had about nine times as many posts.

Frequently asked questions

What was the final RPF SI cut off for general category men?

In the CEN RPF 01/2024 final panel, unreserved men closed at 78.78 on the normalised 100 point scale. For unreserved women the line was 76.58.

Why did the female cut off change after the CBT shortlist?

On 6 March 2025 the boards published a corrigendum revising every female shortlist line. More women were added to the PET list, and some previously listed women were kept on stand by for later rounds.

How many candidates were finally selected as RPF SI?

The final panel of August 2025 contained 450 candidates, of whom 384 were men and 66 were women. Zone allotment and medical examination followed.

Does each subject of the SI CBT have its own minimum?

The published shortlist and panel lines are on the overall scaled score only. Go through the newest notice for exact qualifying rules, since they can be revised.

Are SI and constable cut offs comparable?

Both use the same scaled 100 point CBT score, but the SI drive is graduate level with far fewer posts. In the last cycles, final SI lines for men were higher than the constable lines in every category, by anything from a fraction of a mark to about three and a half marks.

Where is the RPF SI previous year cut off published?

On the RPF portal and on each Railway Recruitment Board website, under the RPF recruitment notices. The cut off PDFs sit beside the result and panel lists.
