The Rajasthan SI syllabus has two objective papers of 200 marks each: Paper I is General Hindi and Paper II is General Knowledge and General Science, which draws most of its questions from Rajasthan itself: its past, its culture, its land, its government and its economy. Each paper has 100 questions worth 2 marks, runs for two hours, and a wrong answer wipes out one third of the 2 marks.
The Rajasthan Public Service Commission conducts this recruitment for Sub Inspector posts in the Rajasthan Police and Platoon Commander posts in the RAC. Clear the written round and you are called for body measurements, a scored physical test and an interview. Below you get the papers, every unit and a practical timetable.

Stages of the SI and Platoon Commander recruitment
- Written exam: two OMR based papers, usually held over one or two days.
- Physical standards and physical efficiency test: height and chest are checked, then a scored test of running, jumping and strength.
- Interview: an aptitude and personality assessment for those who clear the earlier rounds.
- Documents and medical: before appointment.
The written stage decides who reaches the physical test, so most preparation time goes into the two papers. Once the written result is close, add serious sprint and jump practice.
Rajasthan SI exam pattern
| Paper | Subject | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I | General Hindi | 100 | 200 | 2 hours |
| Paper II | General Knowledge and General Science | 100 | 200 | 120 minutes |
| Total | 200 | 400 | 4 hours | |
Each item is worth 2 marks; a wrong mark loses a third of those 2. Reports of the scheme state a minimum of 36 percent per paper and 40 percent overall, with SC and ST candidates allowed 5 marks less. Clearing the minimum only makes you eligible; the shortlist for the next round depends on the Rajasthan police cut off trend and vacancies in your category.
Paper I: General Hindi topics
- Word formation: sandhi and sandhi viched, samas, upsarg (prefix) and pratyay (suffix)
- Tatsam, tadbhav and other word types; paryayvachi (synonyms) and vilom (antonyms)
- Word pairs with similar sound and different meaning
- Parts of speech: sangya, sarvanam, visheshan, kriya, kriya visheshan, with ling, vachan, karak and kaal
- Word and sentence correction, sentence structure

Planning your Rajasthan SI preparation
Paper II is wide, but Rajasthan topics give it a clear centre. Start there.
- Weeks 1 to 6: the state's past, its culture and its geography, from the state board school books and standard Rajasthan GK notes. Make one page summaries of each district's fairs, forts and lok devta.
- Weeks 7 to 10: Indian polity, history and economy from NCERT; Rajasthan's polity and schemes.
- Daily throughout: 45 minutes of Hindi grammar with 30 practice questions, plus current affairs.
- Weeks 11 to 14: science and reasoning, then full timed papers on two consecutive days, just like the real exam.

Frequently asked questions
Rajasthan SI ka syllabus kya hai?
Paper I tests General Hindi grammar and usage, and Paper II covers general knowledge with a strong Rajasthan focus, along with general science, reasoning and current affairs. Each is 200 marks.
Will a wrong answer pull my Rajasthan SI score down?
They do. A third of the question's value goes for every incorrect bubble, which works out to roughly 0.67 of a mark per mistake.
Who can apply for Rajasthan SI?
A completed graduation is required, the ability to read and write Hindi in Devanagari script, and familiarity with Rajasthan's culture. For general candidates the age band has been 20 to 25 years; women and reserved categories are allowed a higher upper limit under state rules.
Is Rajasthan SI the same as RPSC SI?
Yes. RPSC conducts the Sub Inspector and Platoon Commander recruitment, so both names refer to the same exam.
Does the Rajasthan SI written exam include law?
The latest published syllabus does not list criminal law as a separate unit, though Paper I includes legal and administrative terms in Hindi and Paper II covers human rights and governance. Check the syllabus PDF with the latest advertisement.
How hard is Paper II compared with Paper I?
Most candidates find Paper II harder because it is wide and Rajasthan specific. Paper I rewards steady grammar practice and tends to be more predictable.
