Rajasthan High Court 4th Grade Syllabus for Class IV Posts

State exams10th passNo negative marksUpdated 26 Oct 2026

The Rajasthan high court 4th grade syllabus is short and language heavy: an 85 mark written test in general Hindi, general English and Rajasthani culture with dialects, set at secondary school level, followed by a 15 mark interview. There is no maths, reasoning or science in the paper, which surprises many applicants who prepare as if it were a general competition test.

The latest recruitment, for 5,670 Class IV (peon and equivalent) posts in the High Court and the district courts, wanted applicants who had passed class 10, could use Hindi in the Devanagari script in daily work and understood the state's customs. Here you get the paper, the topics inside each part and a plan that spends your time where the 85 marks actually sit. Anyone hunting for the Rajasthan high court 4th grade ka syllabus will find it compact. For the clerical route in state offices, see the Rajasthan LDC syllabus.

Selection stages for High Court Class IV posts

Recruitment for Class IV staff in Rajasthan's courts is run by the High Court itself rather than by the state staff selection board. The latest notice listed these stages:

  1. Written examination of 85 marks, objective type.
  2. Interview of 15 marks for candidates shortlisted on written marks.
  3. Document verification and medical examination for those in the merit zone.

Your final merit is built out of 100: the written score plus the interview. Because the interview is worth less than a fifth of the total, the paper does most of the sorting, yet a poor showing there can still cost a borderline candidate the post.

  • One mark per question, and the latest scheme as reported has no deduction for a wrong pick.
  • Level: secondary school standard throughout.
Most reports agree on the 50, 25 and 10 split above, though one older summary divides the marks differently. The syllabus annexure released by the High Court is the final word, so check it before you plan.

General Hindi topics (50 marks)

Class 10 Hindi grammar accounts for 50 of the 85 written marks. Prepare these areas:

  • Parts of speech: noun, pronoun, adjective, verb and their kinds
  • Gender, number and case (karak) usage
  • Sandhi and samas: joining and splitting words, types of compounds
  • Prefixes, suffixes and word formation
  • Synonyms, antonyms and words with similar sounds
  • Word correction (spelling) and sentence correction
  • Tense and voice
  • Muhavare (idioms) and lokoktiyan (proverbs) with their meanings
  • A single word that replaces a phrase

Shuddh vartani (spelling) and sentence correction trip up the most people, because two options often differ by a single matra.

Rajasthani culture and general English topics

Rajasthani culture and dialects (25 marks)

  • Major dialects such as Marwari, Mewari, Dhundhari, Hadauti and Mewati, and where each is spoken
  • Rajasthani proverbs and idioms
  • Folk deities such as Pabuji, Tejaji, Gogaji and Ramdevji
  • Fairs and festivals, including the Pushkar fair and Gangaur
  • Folk songs, folk dances such as Ghoomar and Kalbeliya, and folk instruments
  • Traditional dress, ornaments, religious and tourist places
  • Well known poets, writers and historical figures of the state
  • Basic geography of Rajasthan

General English (10 marks)

  • Articles, tenses and modals
  • Changing voice and reported speech
  • Word meanings, opposites and replacing a phrase with one word
  • Sentence arrangement, simple editing and omission

How to split your time

Follow the marks. A rough share that matches the paper is 60% of your hours on Hindi, 30% on Rajasthani culture and 10% on English.

  1. First three weeks: One Hindi grammar chapter a day from the class 9 and 10 Rajasthan board Hindi textbooks, with 30 practice questions on it.
  2. Weeks four and five: Rajasthani culture. Make a table of dialects and regions, and another of folk deities with their temples and fairs.
  3. Week six: English grammar basics in short daily sessions.
  4. Weeks seven and eight: Full 85 question papers in two hours, followed by a list of the Hindi spellings you got wrong.
Kamla from Pali works in her family shop all day and studies for two hours at night. She keeps a small notebook only for muhavare and lokoktiyan, adding ten every evening and revising the whole book every Sunday. By the end of six weeks she had more than 300 entries and could finish the idiom questions in mock tests without hesitation.

Since the paper has no penalty for wrong answers, answer all 85 questions before time runs out.

Preparing for the 15 mark interview

The interview is a short conversation, not a written test. Panels usually check whether you can speak clearly in Hindi, understand simple instructions and know the basics of your own district and of Rajasthani culture. Expect questions on your schooling, your family background, local fairs and deities, and why you want a court job. Speaking about the culture topics you studied for the paper, in your own words, is the best practice you can do.

Frequently asked questions

Will the Rajasthan high court 4th grade paper test maths or reasoning?

No. The latest syllabus covers only general Hindi, general English and Rajasthani culture with dialects. Time spent on maths will not earn marks in this paper.

What is the total score in the Rajasthan high court peon exam?

The written paper carries 85 marks and the interview 15, so the merit total is 100. The written paper has 85 one mark questions in two hours.

Do I lose marks for guessing wrongly?

Coverage of the latest recruitment says guessing carries no penalty. Read the instructions on your question booklet in case a new notice changes this.

Which educational pass do I need for Rajasthan high court 4th grade?

Class 10 from any recognised board is enough on paper, though the notice adds two practical demands: comfortable Hindi in the Devanagari script and a grounding in the customs of the state. Higher qualifications are allowed but give no extra marks.

What age is allowed?

You need to be between 18 and 40 on the reckoning date in the advertisement. Upper age relief for reserved groups, women and a few others follows state rules.

Which part should I study first?

Begin with general Hindi, since it carries 50 of the 85 written marks. Move on to Rajasthani culture next, and keep English for short daily sessions.
