CUET Previous Year Question Paper Guide for UG and PG

EntranceUG and PGTimed practiceUpdated 26 Oct 2026

Every CUET previous year question paper reveals two things no syllabus can: the way NTA words its questions, and the speed a test demands of you. Both versions started in 2022, which means a good stock of UG and PG sets already exists.

The catch is that the pattern has been changed more than once, especially in CUET UG. This guide shows how to adapt older sets to the current rules, what each type of test has asked, and how to get papers and keys straight from NTA.

Old papers versus the current format

Each CUET exam leaves behind a question paper that becomes a previous year practice set for the next batch, but the UG sets from 2022 to 2024 were built on rules that have since changed. Earlier cycles offered a choice of questions inside a test and used different time limits, and the subject list was longer. From 2025, every UG test has 50 questions that must all be attempted in 60 minutes.

So when you take an old UG set, keep its questions but impose today's rules: answer all of them, stop at 60 minutes, and mark with plus 5 and minus 1. For PG, use 90 minutes, the limit in the most recent bulletins, rather than the longer time printed on some older papers, and recheck it in the bulletin of your cycle.

Lessons hidden in a CUET previous year question paper

  • English and other languages: for English, any CUET question paper from a previous year is mostly passage based, with factual, literary and narrative extracts, followed by questions on meaning, tone, vocabulary and inference. The Hindi test follows the same plan in Hindi.
  • Domain tests: questions track NCERT lines, tables and diagrams closely. Assertion and reason items and statement based questions are common, which punish half remembered facts.
  • GAT: quick arithmetic, reasoning puzzles and news from roughly the preceding year.
  • PG papers: subject depth at degree level, with many questions on authors, theories, dates or formulas, depending on the discipline.

A detailed look at UG sets subject by subject is on our CUET UG previous papers page.

A practice routine that fits CUET

  1. After each NCERT chapter: solve every past CUET question from that chapter so you see how the book is turned into questions.
  2. Weekly full test per subject: on a computer screen with a 60 minute clock for UG.
  3. Net score tracking: write right, wrong and skipped counts. If wrong answers are more than a fifth of your attempts, you are guessing too much.
  4. Exam day rehearsal: in the last month, take all your chosen tests in one sitting, in the order your admit card is likely to list them.
Rhea, aiming for MA History through CUET PG, solved the history paper of each earlier PG cycle. She found that about a third of her mistakes were on historiography and historians, a topic her college had rushed. She spent three weeks on it and her mock score rose by roughly 30 marks.

Four practice items in CUET format

We drafted these four to copy CUET formats only; no NTA paper was used.

  1. English: Pick the synonym for candid. (a) frank (b) secretive (c) proud (d) tired
  2. History (UG): Assertion: Harappan seals were probably used to mark goods in long distance trade. Reason: The script on these seals has been fully deciphered. Which is correct? (a) Both true, reason explains assertion (b) Both true, reason does not explain assertion (c) Assertion true, reason false (d) Assertion false, reason true
  3. GAT: A train covers 180 km in 3 hours. At that speed, what time does 300 km need? (a) 4 hours (b) 4 hours 30 minutes (c) 5 hours (d) 6 hours
  4. Economics (PG level): If the marginal propensity to consume is 0.8, the simple investment multiplier is: (a) 2 (b) 4 (c) 5 (d) 8

Answers: 1 (a). 2 (c): the script remains undeciphered, so the reason is false. 3 (c): the speed is 60 km an hour. 4 (c): 1 divided by 0.2.

Where to find papers officially

While the key challenge of a cycle is open, NTA lets candidates see the question paper with their recorded responses along with the provisional key, on the CUET UG or CUET PG website. Log in, open the file and save it before the window closes. The final key is announced later on the same site, and your result is computed from it.

Hunting for a previous CUET question paper of any year in Hindi? Remember that the Hindi language test is set in Hindi, and for other tests the language options are those chosen in your form. Choose sets in the medium you will actually use. Students searching in Hinglish often type ka after CUET when they want a previous year question paper; NTA remains their only trustworthy source too.

Retyped papers circulated online often carry wrong answers or missing questions. Cross check any doubtful answer against NTA's final key for that cycle.

From practice to admission

Your practice scores mean most when you compare them with how universities have filled seats in the past. Read our CUET cut off explainer for that, and for PG preparation start from the CUET PG syllabus. Other entrance tests are listed in the entrance exams hub.

Frequently asked questions

Are 2022 CUET papers still useful?

Yes for content, since domain tests still follow NCERT. Just practise them under the current rules of 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes for UG.

Does NTA publish a nta cuet previous year question paper archive?

NTA shows each candidate's question paper with responses and the provisional key during the challenge window, and announces final keys later. Check its CUET websites and notices for anything released beyond that.

What number of past sets per subject is enough?

Solve every available official set for each subject you take, then add NCERT based mock tests. Four to six full sets per subject is a reasonable minimum.

Is the English paper the same every year?

The format is stable: passages of different kinds with comprehension and vocabulary questions. The passages themselves change every shift.

Should I practise CUET on paper or on a computer?

Use a computer whenever possible: CUET happens on screen, and scrolling long passages needs practice.
