The Agniveer cut off is not one published number: the Army fixes a minimum pass mark for the online CEE in each notification, then each Army Recruiting Office (ARO) calls candidates to the rally and draws up a final merit list against its own vacancies. Results are released as lists of roll numbers for each ARO, so no official category-wise cut off marks are put out the way SSC or banking exams do.
That means the useful question is not "what was the cut off" but "how far above the pass mark do I need to be in my zone". This page explains each filter, what pushes the bar up or down, and how to read your result. For the exam itself, start with the Agniveer syllabus and pattern.

What the Agniveer cut off really means
There are three separate bars in Agniveer selection, and candidates often mix them up.
- The CEE pass mark. The notification sets a minimum score in the online test for each category such as GD, technical or clerk. Falling below it ends your attempt for that cycle.
- The rally shortlist. From those who pass, each ARO calls a number of candidates to the recruitment rally, linked to the vacancies it has to fill. This is the hidden cut off most people mean.
- The final merit. After the physical test, the adaptability test and the medical, the ARO ranks those still in the race and fills its seats from the top.
Only the first bar is printed in the notification. The other two are never declared as marks; they show up as roll numbers in result lists.
Past cycles: what was announced
In the 2025 cycle, the GD paper of the CEE was held from 30 June to 3 July 2025 and the whole CEE ran to 10 July 2025. The CEE result came out on 26 July 2025 on the official site, as zone-wise lists of shortlisted roll numbers rather than a marks table. Earlier cycles in 2023 and 2024 followed the same pattern.
| Cycle | Stage | What candidates received |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | Online CEE | ARO-wise PDF lists of roll numbers called to the rally |
| 2025 | Rally and medical | Final merit lists by ARO and category |
| 2023 and 2024 | CEE and rally | Same format: roll numbers, no category cut off marks |
Coaching estimates of Agniveer cut off marks circulate every year. None are official, and they vary widely between zones, so treat any single figure with caution.
Qualifying marks versus a real chance of selection
Clearing the CEE pass mark only keeps you eligible. Whether you are called to the rally depends on how many candidates from your ARO scored above you. In a district where few young people apply, a modest score above the pass mark can be enough. In a zone with heavy competition for GD, you may need a far stronger score to make the list.
How the physical test changes your merit
For GD, the rally is scored, not just pass or fail, so it can lift or sink your final rank.
- 1.6 km run: 5 minutes 30 seconds or less earns 60 marks (Group I); up to 5 minutes 45 seconds earns 48 marks (Group II).
- Pull-ups: 10 earn 40 marks, falling to 16 marks for 6.
- 9 feet ditch and zig-zag balance: qualify only.
A candidate with an average CEE score but a Group I run and ten pull-ups can overtake a rival with a better CEE result who ran in Group II. NCC certificates and sports achievements can also add bonus marks under the rules listed in the notification.
What will affect the Agniveer cut off next time
- Vacancies per ARO. More posts in your zone lower the bar; fewer posts raise it.
- Number of applicants. A surge in applications from your district pushes the rally shortlist up.
- Paper difficulty and normalisation. Reports say scores across sessions are normalised, so a harder shift does not by itself hurt you.
- The marking scheme. Reports on recent cycles describe the marks per question and negative marking differently, which changes how raw scores look. Read the scheme in your notification.
- Category of entry. GD, technical, clerk and tradesman have separate papers, pass marks and merit lists.
How to check your Agniveer result and merit
- Open the official site and look for the notice issued by your ARO for your entry category.
- Download the PDF and search for your roll number.
- If your number is listed after the CEE, you are called to the rally; keep an eye on the date and venue sent through your login.
- After the rally and medical, check the final merit list from the same ARO.
If your candidate login shows your score, use it to judge how far above the pass mark you were, and plan ahead using the other defence and police exams in mind, such as the Navy SSR entry.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Agniveer cut off for GD?
The Army does not publish category-wise cut off marks for GD. The notification sets a minimum pass mark in the CEE, and each ARO then shortlists candidates for the rally and makes a final merit list based on its vacancies.
Why is my friend from another district selected with fewer marks?
Merit is prepared separately by each Army Recruiting Office. Vacancies and the number of applicants differ from zone to zone, so the score needed to be called to the rally differs too.
Do rally marks matter for GD merit?
Yes, for GD the run and pull-ups carry marks. A Group I run and full pull-ups can make up for a moderate CEE score.
Where can I see the official Agniveer result?
On joinindianarmy.nic.in, where results are posted ARO-wise as roll number lists. Rally dates and admit cards come through your candidate login.
Are expected cut off marks reliable?
No. Estimates are guesses and vary by zone. Only the pass mark in the notification and the official result lists can be relied on.
Can I improve my chances if I miss the merit list?
Yes, if you are still within the age limit you can apply in the next cycle. Use your marks to find the weak subject, and work on your running time, since the rally score carries real weight.
