The ras cut off is the lowest score with which someone in your category clears a stage of RPSC's combined RAS and RTS recruitment: first the prelims, out of 200 after negative marking, and then the final selection, decided on mains and interview marks out of 900. RPSC issues separate lines for each category, for women and other special groups, and for the Non TSP and TSP areas of the state.
Exact figures change with every recruitment and should be read from the commission's own result notices. Here you will learn how each line is built, which factors lift or lower it, and how to use past lines to set a realistic target. The paper structure is on the RAS syllabus page.

Reading the ras cut off stage by stage
- Prelims cut off: the score that takes you to the mains. RPSC admits roughly 15 candidates per vacancy in each category to the mains under its rules, so the line falls wherever that number is filled.
- Mains to interview: after the mains, candidates who reach the minimum qualifying marks fixed by the commission get an interview call by merit, again category wise. This group is far smaller than the mains list.
- Final cut off: the mains plus interview total at which each category's last seat is filled. Different services are then allotted by rank and preference.
Because prelims marks are dropped at the end, the prelims line is a gate only. The real competition for a post is fought in the 900 marks of mains and interview.
Why RPSC publishes so many separate lines
A single RAS result notice can carry dozens of cut offs. The main reasons are:
- Category: General, EWS, OBC, MBC, SC and ST each have their own line.
- Horizontal groups: women, widows, divorced women, ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities have separate lines within their category.
- Area: the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) area of southern Rajasthan has its own reservation rules, so RPSC lists Non TSP and TSP cut offs separately.
When you look up a past figure, make sure you are reading the row for your own category, gender and area. A general category woman from a Non TSP district and a general category man from the same area face different lines.
How negative marking shapes the prelims line
The prelims has 150 questions for 200 marks, and every incorrect bubble subtracts a third of the marks that item carries. This keeps prelims cut offs well below what the raw number of correct answers would suggest. It also means two candidates with the same number of correct answers can end up on opposite sides of the line, depending on how many guesses went wrong.
The commission's OMR rules also ask you to fill a bubble for every question, including the bubble that says you are not attempting it. Under recent instructions, RPSC can disqualify you if upwards of 15 of the 150 questions are left without any filled circle, so study the rule in your admit card instructions carefully.
Ras cut off 2025 and recent cycles: reading the trend
Readers searching for the ras cut off 2025 usually want the lines of the most recent recruitment. RPSC puts them out with every stage's result, together with how many people cleared it. When you compare cycles, keep these points in mind:
- Prelims lines move with paper difficulty more than anything else, since the paper is set fresh each time and negative marking magnifies small changes.
- The number of posts advertised changes sharply between cycles, which resizes the group invited to write the mains.
- General and EWS lines are usually the highest; ST and TSP area lines are usually lower.
- Women's lines are often below the corresponding open line in the same category.
What will move the next line
- Vacancies: more posts mean more candidates called to mains, which lowers the prelims line.
- Difficulty of the paper: a tough Rajasthan GK or science section pulls every category down together.
- Number of serious candidates: RAS draws lakhs of applicants, and attendance on exam day varies.
- Reservation changes: any change in category shares or in the TSP rules changes the lines for those groups.
- Mains and interview marking: for the final line, the spread of mains marks and interview scores in that cycle sets how high the last selected candidate sits.
How to read the official notice
- Open the RPSC website (rpsc.rajasthan.gov.in) and go to the results or press note section.
- Choose the RAS/RTS Combined Competitive Exam of your cycle and the stage: preliminary, main or final.
- Download the result PDF; the category wise lines sit inside it or in a separate press note.
- Find the row for your category, gender and area, and note whether the figure is out of 200 (prelims) or 900 (final).
For final allotment, RPSC also issues detailed marks after the process ends, which shows how close candidates were to each line.
Using past lines to set your target
Treat the most recent official line for your row as a minimum and aim a little higher, because the next paper may be easier. Measure yourself on full timed mocks with negative marking applied. For mains, set targets per paper: a strong Paper IV in Hindi and English can make up for an average General Studies paper. If you are comparing RAS with other state services, see the UPPSC cut off page, and for other RPSC posts, the RPSC syllabus. The civil services hub lists more.
Frequently asked questions
Is the RAS prelims score added to the final merit?
No. Prelims is a screening round. Rank at the end rests on the 800 mains marks together with the 100 interview marks.
Why does RPSC give separate Non TSP and TSP cut offs?
The Tribal Sub Plan area has its own reservation scheme, so candidates from TSP areas are ranked under separate rules. That produces a separate set of category wise lines.
Which RPSC document carries the ras cut off?
On the RPSC website, inside the result PDF or press note of each stage. Pick the notice for your recruitment cycle and the stage you need.
How large is the mains shortlist?
RPSC calls a multiple of the advertised vacancies in each category, about 15 times under its rules. The current advertisement states the exact rule for that recruitment.
Does negative marking apply in the mains?
The mains papers are descriptive, so there is no objective style negative marking. The one third deduction applies to the prelims objective paper.
Is the women's cut off lower in RAS?
Women have a reserved share within each category, so their line is often lower than the open line of the same category. Check the women's row for your category in the notice.
