Rajasthan agriculture entrance: three of five subjects, 40 questions each

JET Syllabus: Rajasthan Agriculture Entrance

EntranceAgriculture degreesPlus 4, minus 1Updated 26 Oct 2026

The JET syllabus is the subject course for the Joint Entrance Test that Rajasthan's agricultural universities hold for admission to B.Sc. (Hons.) agriculture and related degrees, and it is drawn from five class 11 and 12 subjects: physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and agriculture. You answer only the three subjects of your own 12th stream, with 40 questions in each, so your paper carries 120 questions and up to 480 marks.

The test is run by a different state agricultural university in turn; in the latest cycle the host was the Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner. Read the information booklet the host university releases, because subject rules and unit lists come from there.

JET exam pattern and how the paper works

The question booklet contains all five subjects, but you mark answers only in the three that match your 12th stream.

Subjects in the bookletPhysics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, agriculture
Subjects you attempt3, matching your 12th stream
Questions per subject40
Total questions and marks120 questions, 480 marks
Correct answer4 marks
Wrong or multiple markingMinus 1
OptionsFive per question, the last one (E) used to skip

The fifth option matters. If you do not know a question, shade E rather than leaving the row empty, since the booklet treats E as the way to skip. Merit is drawn from JET marks alone, not from your board percentage.

The host university, the exam timing and some rules can change each year. Treat the booklet of your cycle as final, including the rule on unmarked rows.

Which subjects you take

  • ABC (agriculture, biology, chemistry): for students from the agriculture stream; leads to the B.Sc. programmes.
  • PCB (physics, chemistry, biology): the most common choice; leads to agriculture, horticulture, forestry, fisheries and home science degrees, and is also accepted for food technology.
  • PCA (physics, chemistry, agriculture): for agriculture stream students who also took physics; accepted for food technology too.
  • PCM (physics, chemistry, maths): required for B.Tech. dairy technology and accepted for food technology and the B.Sc. courses listed in the booklet.

If you studied PCMB, the booklet allows that combination as well, but you still answer only three subjects. Decide which three before the exam and practise only those.

Subject wise JET syllabus and JET exam syllabus units

The units below follow the latest booklet's annexure, built on the class 11 and 12 courses.

Physics

  • Basics of physics and mechanics
  • Gravitation, bulk matter and thermodynamics
  • Electrostatics and current electricity
  • Magnetism, induction and modern physics

Chemistry

  • Basic concepts and the structure of matter
  • Kinetics and thermodynamics
  • Agricultural chemistry, a unit you will not find in most engineering or medical tests
  • Organic chemistry

Biology

Split into botany (plant classification and physiology, ecology, economic botany, biotechnology, and crop diseases with their control) and zoology (the animal kingdom with morphology, invertebrates and vertebrates).

Mathematics

Functions with sets, algebra, calculus, straight lines and conics in coordinate geometry, vector algebra with three dimensional geometry, mathematical reasoning, statistics and probability, and trigonometric functions.

Agriculture

Three units carrying 15, 15 and 10 questions, drawn from the senior secondary agriculture course. Take the exact topic list from the booklet annexure, as it is specific to this test.

Where to put your effort

Two features shape a good strategy. First, the chemistry paper includes an agricultural chemistry unit, so PCB and PCM students who only revise board chemistry miss free marks; soil, fertilisers and related chemistry are worth a dedicated week. Second, the botany half of biology leans towards crops, economic plants and plant diseases, which ties directly to the degree you are seeking.

With minus 1 for every wrong answer, four careless guesses cancel one correct answer. A sensible rule: commit to an option only after striking off two wrong ones with confidence, and shade E for the rest.

An eight week plan before JET

  1. Weeks 1 to 3: class 11 units of your three subjects, using NCERT or your board's textbooks.
  2. Weeks 4 to 6: class 12 units, plus the agricultural chemistry and crop disease topics.
  3. Week 7: 40 question sets per subject, timed at about 40 minutes each.
  4. Week 8: two full 120 question mocks, then a careful look at each error.
Kiran from a village near Sri Ganganagar studied PCB and was also preparing for NEET. With six weeks left after NEET, she kept biology light and spent her time on agricultural chemistry and plant pathology, the two areas NEET had not covered. She also stopped guessing on physics numericals she could not solve, and her mock scores rose by about 30 marks.
