AFMC Cut Off: NEET Score Needed for a Screening Call

EntranceNEET out of 720Boys and girls listsUpdated 26 Oct 2026

The AFMC cut off is the lowest NEET UG score at which the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune calls candidates for its screening, with one figure for boys and a higher one for girls. In NEET UG 2023 the call went down to 622 for boys and 648 for girls out of 720, and in 2024 the first list was reported at 666 and 681.

This number is a gate, not an admission. Once called, you still face an English and reasoning test, a psychological test, an interview and a strict medical exam, and AFMC prepares its last list only when every stage is over. Read the figures here as the score that gets you into the room.

How the AFMC cut off works

AFMC does not run its own written entrance. You sit NEET UG like every other medical aspirant and, while registering for counselling with the Medical Counselling Committee, you choose to be considered for AFMC. The college then sorts all applicants by NEET score and calls the top of the list for screening in Pune.

Boys and girls are listed separately because the seats are split: 115 for boys and 30 for girls among the 145 for Indian candidates, with 5 more for foreign nationals sponsored by the government. With roughly a quarter as many seats, the girls' list closes at a higher score every year.

The number of candidates called is many times the number of seats, so the screening call score is set by how deep into the ranking AFMC chooses to reach. If too few people report, AFMC can issue an additional list, which lowers the effective cut off.

AFMC cut off in recent NEET cycles

The 2023 figures come from the college's own screening notice, which called candidates in batches over several days. In 2024 the college later released a supplementary list of 1,123 more candidates, and that list carried the lower cut off of 656 and 675.

AFMC does not publish a single official cut off for the latest NEET cycle in an easy table, and a dependable NEET UG 2025 figure was not something we were able to verify. Reports for that year vary widely, so treat any number you see as unconfirmed until you see the college's shortlist notice.

Scores here are NEET marks out of 720, not ranks. NEET difficulty changes every year, so a score that was enough in one cycle may not be enough, or may be more than enough, in the next. The national qualifying marks for each year sit on our NEET cut off guide.

Screening at AFMC after the call

Those called report to Pune on a fixed day and go through, in order:

  1. Document verification. Identity, NEET scorecard, class 10 and 12 records and category proof.
  2. ToELR. The Test of English Language and Logical Reasoning, taken on the reporting day.
  3. Psychological Assessment Test (PAT). Written and picture based tasks used to judge suitability for service life.
  4. Interview. A board of officers talks with you about yourself, your motivation and general topics.
  5. Medical examination. Blood tests, scans and a medical board. Unfit candidates are out, whatever their score.

The full process takes two to three days, so plan travel and stay accordingly. The college has said that a screening call does not guarantee admission and that eligibility is checked again at every step.

How the final AFMC merit is made

The final list is not simply the NEET order. AFMC combines your NEET score with your performance in the ToELR and the interview, among candidates who pass the psychological assessment and the medical board. Reports of the exact weighting differ, and the college's information brochure for your year is the only place to confirm it.

In practice, NEET still decides most of the ranking, because the gaps between screened candidates on test day are narrow. A strong ToELR and a calm, honest interview can move you a few places, which matters when the last seats are being filled.

Sneha scored 671 in NEET and was called in the first girls' list. She was nervous about the interview, so for two weeks before Pune she read a newspaper editorial daily, practised short spoken answers about why she wanted the services, and did a few timed reading comprehension sets. That routine also covered the ToELR.

Qualifying NEET versus the AFMC screening score

Do not confuse the two. Your first hurdle is NEET qualification itself, which means reaching the 50th percentile if you are unreserved. In NEET UG 2025 that meant a score of 144. AFMC's screening calls in recent years have started above 600, so a merely qualifying score is far from enough.

AFMC also reserves a small share of seats for SC and ST candidates, and its notice for each year sets out how other reservation applies. Reserved category candidates should go through that year's AFMC brochure and not lean on the general figures in the table above. Age and other conditions follow NEET rules, which our NEET eligibility page covers, and other medical and defence routes are set side by side in our entrance exams roundup.

What decides next year's AFMC cut off

  • NEET difficulty. When the whole NEET field scores higher, as in 2024, the AFMC call score rises with it.
  • How many choose AFMC. Every NEET topper who opts in pushes the list up.
  • Reporting rates. If many called candidates do not turn up, the college goes deeper with an extra list.
  • Seats. The split of 115 and 30 has stayed steady, which keeps the girls' figure ahead.

For NEET preparation itself, our NEET syllabus page lays out every chapter. Since recent boys' calls have ranged from 622 to 666, a target in the high 600s is sensible, and girls should set theirs higher still.

Where to check AFMC shortlists

The college publishes its admission notices, screening lists and reporting schedules on its official website, and the Medical Counselling Committee posts the registration rules for the AFMC option with its NEET counselling notices. Search the college's site for the MBBS admission section once NEET results are out.

Each shortlist notice states the lowest NEET score called for boys and for girls, the batches and reporting times, and the documents to bring. Save that notice; it is the only reliable record of the AFMC cut off for your year.

Frequently asked questions

What NEET score is needed for AFMC?

In recent cycles AFMC called boys from about 622 to 666 and girls from about 648 to 681, out of 720, depending on the year and list. Scoring in the high 600s would have been enough for a call in each of these lists, but the figure moves with NEET difficulty.

Why is the AFMC cut off higher for girls?

There are only 30 seats for girls against 115 for boys. With far fewer places, the list for girls stops at a higher NEET score.

Is the AFMC cut off a rank or a score?

AFMC states its screening cut off as a NEET score out of 720, given separately for boys and girls. It is not stated as an all India rank.

Does AFMC have its own entrance exam?

No written entrance of its own. Selection uses NEET UG for the shortlist, followed by the ToELR, a psychological assessment, an interview and a medical board in Pune.

What was the AFMC cut off for NEET 2025?

No official NEET UG 2025 figure was available for us to verify. Reports disagree, so rely on the shortlist notice from the college for that cycle.

Can I get AFMC through the all India quota counselling?

You register for AFMC through the MCC counselling process, but the seat itself is decided by AFMC's own screening and merit list, not by the regular all India quota rounds.
