NDA Cut Off 2025 with Past Written and Final Marks

Defence and policeOut of 1800 finalNo category splitUpdated 26 Oct 2026

For the NDA cut off 2025, the written stage needed about 334 out of 900 in the first session and about 305 in the second, as reported from UPSC's marks notices, along with a minimum in each paper. Clearing that line earns an SSB call; the final cut off, out of 1800, adds your SSB marks and has sat in the mid 600s in recent sessions.

Below you will find the session by session figures we could match across reliable reports, what the sectional minimum means for your maths score, and why there is no separate OBC cut off for this exam.

Exam at a glance

  • Written cut off basis

    Maths 300 plus GAT 600, total 900

  • Sectional minimum

Set by UPSC each session; reported as 25% in most recent sessions

Two NDA cut off lines: written and final

NDA has two separate thresholds. The written cut off is the lowest total out of 900 that earned an SSB interview call in that session. The final cut off is the total out of 1800 of the last candidate placed in the final merit list after the SSB and medical stages. You also need the minimum in each paper, so a strong GAT score cannot rescue a very low maths score.

UPSC releases the written result as a roll number list. The marks of the last qualifying candidate usually appear later, once the full process ends.

These are the figures that matched across more than one reliable report of UPSC's notices. For the second 2025 session, one report also gives a higher written line of about 358.84 for women candidates; treat that as reported, not confirmed. Where two reports gave different final marks, we have left the cell for you to confirm on the official notice.

NDA maths cut off and the sectional minimum

Searches for an nda maths cut off really point to the sectional minimum. UPSC requires a minimum percentage in each written paper, and reports put it at 25% in most recent sessions, with 20% mentioned for a couple of older ones. At 25%, you need at least 75 out of 300 in maths and 150 out of 600 in GAT, before the overall total is even looked at.

Aarav scored 410 in GAT but only 68 in maths. His total of 478 is well above any recent written line, yet he does not get an SSB call because maths fell short of 75. Two extra hours a week on maths would have changed his result more than any amount of GK.

Is there an NDA cut off marks for OBC or other categories

No. NDA has no category based reservation, so there is no separate cut off for OBC, SC, ST or EWS candidates. Everyone is ranked on one list, and the only split is that women candidates have their own merit list against the seats reserved for them. The fee waiver for SC and ST candidates does not change the marks they need.

What moves the cut off from one session to the next

  • Paper difficulty: a tough maths paper pulls the written line down, as happened in sessions where it fell near 290.
  • Seats on offer: each session usually has close to 400 seats across the Army, Navy, Air Force and Naval Academy. A rise or fall in seats shifts the line.
  • Number of candidates: more serious applicants push scores up at the top.
  • SSB conversion: UPSC calls many more candidates than there are seats, because a large share do not get recommended at the SSB.

There is no normalisation, because both papers are the same for every candidate in a session.

How to read your own score against the cut off

UPSC publishes its official answer key only after the final result, so in the meantime check your attempted answers carefully against your textbooks. Multiply right answers by 2.5 in maths and 4 in GAT, and subtract 0.83 and 1.33 for each wrong one. If your total is near 300 and both sectional minimums are safe, start SSB preparation at once rather than waiting for the result.

For a deeper look at how questions are framed, work through the NDA previous year question paper sets, and revise weak chapters from the NDA syllabus.

Where to check the NDA cut off officially

On the UPSC website, open the examination section and choose the NDA and NA exam of the session you want. The written result PDF lists qualified roll numbers. The final result notice and the later marks release give the marks of the last recommended candidate, and each candidate's own marks stay viewable for a limited period.

Cut off figures on this page are past values for guidance only. Always rely on the notice published by UPSC for the session you appeared in.

Frequently asked questions

What was the NDA written cut off in the second 2024 session?

It was reported at 305 out of 900, and the final cut off at 673 out of 1800. Both figures matched across reliable reports of the UPSC notice.

Is 300 a safe score in the NDA written exam?

Around 300 has been close to the line in several sessions, so it is borderline rather than safe. Target a mock average of 340 plus, keeping maths comfortably above the sectional minimum.

Does NDA have a separate cut off for girls?

Women are ranked on their own merit list for their reserved seats, so the qualifying line can differ from the common list. Check the session's UPSC notice for the exact figure.

Why is my SSB score so important for the final cut off?

The SSB carries 900 marks, the same as the whole written exam. A candidate with an average written score and a strong SSB performance can finish well above someone who scored higher on paper.

Does UPSC release NDA cut off marks with the written result?

Usually not. The written result is a list of roll numbers, and the cut off marks come out after the final result. That is why many candidates estimate their score by checking their answers with textbooks while they wait.

Can I see my NDA eligibility and cut off together?

Eligibility decides whether you can sit the exam, and the cut off decides whether you move ahead. Our NDA eligibility page covers age and subjects.
