The JPSC syllabus for the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination has three parts: an objective prelims with two general studies papers (one national, one focused on Jharkhand), a mains of six descriptive papers with no optional subject, and finally an interview carrying 100 marks. Through it the commission fills posts such as Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police and other state services.
Jharkhand content is the thread that runs through every stage. You meet it as a full prelims paper, as sections inside the mains papers on history, geography and economy, and again at the interview. The tables below follow the scheme set by the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination Rules and their later amendments.

Three stages and how marks flow
Prelims works as a screening round. Marks of both papers are added to pick the mains candidates, yet the commission leaves it out when it draws up the select list. The mains decides most of your rank: Paper I (Hindi and English) must be cleared with at least 30 marks out of 100, and the interview list is drawn on Papers II to VI, worth 950 marks. The 100 mark interview is then added to give the final list.
Because there is no optional, every candidate writes the same mains. That makes general studies depth and answer writing speed the deciding factors.

For anyone asking about jpsc ka syllabus, that paragraph is the quick version; the English tables above carry the full detail.
Building a plan around the state content
Since about one prelims paper in two and a large slice of mains is about Jharkhand, start a dedicated Jharkhand notebook in week one: tribes, movements, land laws, minerals, districts, schemes. Fill it daily and revise it every weekend.
If you are preparing for UPSC as well, much of Papers III to VI overlaps with the UPSC mains syllabus, and the neighbouring state's BPSC syllabus shares history and polity themes. Add state level reports such as the Jharkhand economic survey for Paper V.
Frequently asked questions
Does JPSC mains have optional papers?
No. All six mains papers are compulsory for everyone. Paper II lets you choose a language and its literature, but that is not an optional subject in the UPSC sense.
Is there negative marking in JPSC prelims?
The current scheme as reported has no negative marking, although shading two options for a question is treated as wrong. Check the advertisement you apply under, since rules can be revised.
What is the JPSC age limit?
For the latest exam the minimum age is 21 and the upper limit for unreserved and EWS candidates is 35, with relaxation for other categories as per state rules. Age is reckoned on a date fixed in each advertisement.
Are prelims scores added to the final rank?
No. Prelims is purely a filter for mains. Rank comes from mains Papers II to VI added to the interview.
Can I write the JPSC mains in Hindi?
Yes. Hindi and English are both allowed as the answer medium; the language papers are the exception, as they are answered in the language being tested.
Which document has the official syllabus of JPSC?
The syllabus is annexed to each notification on the JPSC website. Other state commission syllabi are collected on our state exams hub.
